The media should include more stories which report good news. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Opinions are divided on the issue of whether news coverage should predominantly focus on good news or encompass a wider range of stories. While acknowledging the importance of good news, I firmly believe that it is imperative for the media to provide a balanced representation of various types of news. Advocates of prioritizing meaningful and uplifting news contend that exposure to positive stories can have a profound impact on individuals. Regular exposure to good news has been linked to increased happiness, emotional resilience, and life satisfaction, while also serving as a buffer against stress and anxiety. Beginning the day with an uplifting story from the newspaper or the radio can set a positive tone, infusing individuals with energy and optimism. Moreover, when individuals come across positive news on social media, they tend to share their experiences, fostering a sense of community and promoting social connections. This, in turn, encourages people to contribute to social values and undertake moral actions. On the other hand, I firmly assert that broadcasting tragic news events alongside positive stories can be justified for several reasons. Foremost, it is the responsibility of the media to provide up-to-date information, allowing individuals to stay informed about current affairs and gain insights into events occurring worldwide. This knowledge empowers people to make informed decisions and be more responsible citizens. For instance, being aware of urgent issues like environmental degradation or pandemics compels individuals to take immediate action and exercise caution. Moreover, excessive exposure to delightful news solely can make people see life through rose-tinted glasses and hinder individuals' ability to develop resilience and cope with adversity. Exposure to a wide range of news, including challenges and setbacks, helps individuals cultivate a realistic understanding of the complexities of life and equips them with the necessary tools to navigate difficult situations. By acknowledging the realities and challenges that exist, individuals can develop a more grounded perspective and actively contribute to finding meaningful solutions. In conclusion, while I partially agree with the notion that emphasizing good news is important, it is more essential for the media to deliver a comprehensive range of news stories to keep the public well-informed and accountable.
